Who Am I?

Below you will find a brief description of my background. The details are intentionally shallow for the truth is I’m nothing special, nor am I keen on self-promotion. I’m not a professional politician, I’m just a man who loves God, loves people and has a deep desire to serve my community. This is all I wish to be known for, regardless of what position I might hold.

Born and raised in Sissonville, West Virginia, my family and I spent 20 years in North Carolina before I was led to this community over eight years ago. It was then that the LORD led me to take the senior pastor position at First Baptist Church of Belmont. For the past eight and a half years, I have labored in service to my church and community. I have grown roots. I have rejoiced with my neighbors in the good times, and wept with them at gravesides. I am thankful for the LORD’s leading us here to this community, as He has blessed us tremendously in doing so.

Why Am I Running?

Having been interested in politics since a boy, I’d never considered running for office myself until the beginning of 2024. It was at that time the LORD put upon my heart the possibility of running for elected office. I considered the options at that time, but ultimately never found peace with filing. The seat that I felt led to then is the position I now run for, but at that time, Trenton Barnhart had held it and I found no reason to contest him for it.

At the end of January, Delegate Barnhart was appointed to the vacated State Senate seat with the retirement of Senator Boley. I was then approached by some of the leaders in the community about the possibility of running for this delegate seat to represent our district.

When asked, I didn’t hesitate as I believed that this is now the Lord’s appointed time.

I view this office as another field of ministry where I can not only be a vote, but a voice in the promotion of conservative, Biblical values for the betterment of our society at large, our children and children’s children.
