The ‘Secret Sauce’ to a Thriving Economy

One constant that is on the minds of many is the economy. Especially during election season, many residents want to know how you are going to help the local economy with the creation of jobs, and small businesses.

But there's one aspect which determines the success of small business that few people consider, and that is whether or not they’re going to be able to hire and retain quality employees.

If you ask most any hiring manager what the most important quality they are looking for in a potential employee - is character. It’s what they’re all looking for. They want to know if who they hire is trustworthy, dependable, honest, hard working, ethical, reliable, loyal, self-motivated, etc. You see you can train a person like that to do just about anything, but all the education in the world will not make up for a lack of character.

If character is so important in the success or failure in the lives of not only the individuals but the companies who would hire them, why are we not making it a priority in the public education system?

It's my belief that we need not only to teach our children reading, writing, and arithmetic but we need to make a concerted effort to teach our children to be moral people.

This is why if I am elected as your delegate, I will introduce in January legislation titled the “Character Curriculum Act”. This legislation would require our public schools to teach our children not only what good character is, but how important it will be to their success in life.

For around 70 years now we have seen a slow but steady erosion of morality in our country and unless we do something to stem the tide, you can rest assured it will continue to get worse.

Your vote matters! I would greatly appreciate your vote on May 12th in the Republican Primary.
